Deep Immersion in Guapi

7 days and 6 nights in the musical heart of the southern Colombian Pacific.

Over 7 days and 6 nights you will share the daily life of Pacific communities in places such as Quiroga, Gorgona and the rivers of Guapi.

Through traditional music, artisanal fishing, canoe journeys, instrument building and encounters with families who carry ancestral knowledge, you will discover the stories, landscapes and traditions that keep the culture of this region alive.

Day-by-day itinerary

7 days and 6 nights between Guapi, the community of Quiroga and Gorgona Island.

Day 1
Arrival in Guapi and first Pacific rhythms
Arrival in Guapi and a short introduction to the history and culture of this key town of the Colombian Pacific. After lunch we travel by boat to the community of Quiroga, where we will stay during the experience. In the afternoon we take part in our first traditional dance workshop, a first connection with the rhythms and movements that accompany everyday life in the region.
Day 2
Traditional fishing and first music session
We head to the beach to join a day of traditional fishing with members of the local community. Besides learning artisanal fishing techniques, we will watch coastal birds and understand the relationship between the sea and community life. After lunch we begin our first hands-on session of traditional Pacific music.
Day 3
Gorgona National Natural Park*
We travel to Gorgona National Natural Park for a day of nature and exploration. Depending on the season we may go whale watching, observe birds and enjoy the beaches of one of Colombia's most emblematic protected areas. At the end of the day we return to the community to keep sharing time with our hosts.
Day 4
Canoe journey and second music session
We experience one of the traditional forms of Pacific transport: the potrillo, the paddled dugout canoe that has connected river communities for generations. We paddle while learning more about everyday life along the river. At night we continue learning with a second traditional music session.
Day 5
The Torres family: stories, legends and marimba
We visit the renowned Torres family, bearers of an important musical and cultural tradition of the Pacific. We share stories, legends and knowledge passed down through generations, understanding how music has accompanied the life of the region's communities. The day ends with an evening of traditional songs, guitars and conversation by the river.
Day 6
Instrument building and closing celebration
We take part in a hands-on workshop on building traditional instruments to learn about the materials, techniques and knowledge behind the characteristic sounds of the southern Pacific. After our last music session we gather for a closing celebration hosted by the musicians of Fundación Semblanzas del Río Guapi, sharing music, dance and community.
Day 7
Farewell to the Pacific
A calm morning before the transfer to Guapi airport. A moment to close a week of shared life, learning and connection with the communities, landscapes and cultural expressions that make the Colombian Pacific unique.

*Humpback whale watching depends on the season (July to October) and sea conditions. The visit to Gorgona National Natural Park is subject to availability and park permits.
